A little more info about Terrapin Hill Farm and the Harvest Festival...

Terrapin Hill Farm is known throughout the state for it’s naturally-grown farm products. The farm’s education/retreat center provides an opportunity for the public to observe a working, sustainable farm, and focuses on teaching the benefits of local food systems, while providing an outlet for local farm products (which accounts for most of the food at the farm’s events).  In addition to all this, Terrapin Hill Farm provides the region with a crop of high-quality, nationally recognized music events. The Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival is a unique agri-tourism event that blends three of the farm's objectives -- producing and promoting healthy foodshowcasing top quality music, and developing community awareness.

What started out as small gatherings of guitar-pickers around the campfire has evolved into one of the nation’spremier music festivals. The Harvest Festival features a wide spectrum of musical styles by over 20 bands, spread out over 4 days on 4 stages with no over-lapping sets, except for late-night. In the wee hours of the morning, electronic music lovers will enjoy the festival’s newest feature: “DaVinci’s Big Top Womp Womp in the Woods” (located near the TeePee); meanwhile, bluegrass lovers can boogie all night long at the Chapel Stage.

Other activities throughout the weekend include hayride tours of the farm, bonfires, drum circles, fire-spinning, yoga, food and craft vendors, and glassblowing demonstrations. The Chaplin River, which surrounds half of the farm, contains a swimming hole that’s perfect for cooling off on a warm day. The kidswill enjoy the playground and activities planned just for them, and those families looking for a quiet space will appreciate the family campground. Many non-profit organizations are invited to set up booths with information about their causes, providing an opportunity to educate festival attendees about environmental, social and health issues. Another fun addition to the festival this year is a best-decorated-campsite contest, and a costume contest with an “Ancient Civilizations” theme.
