SCHOOL GARDENS
We are very proud to have been involved in the creation of several school gardens, at Danville Montessori School, King Middle School in Harrodsburg, and Bryan Station High School in Lexington. School gardens help teach children important life lessons. Students learn personal skills involved in garden care-taking such as patience, responsibility, leadership, confidence and environmental sensitivity. They also learn social skills such as working cooperatively and appreciating teamwork.
We strongly believe in the value of school gardens and will happily offer our services to till garden space, build raised beds, and give consultation to students and teachers on planting and maintenance of the garden.
Below are photos of the K-5th graders at Danville Montessori School planting and harvesting from their new garden. Children who attended the Montessori daycare ate fresh produce from the garden all summer.
