Come to Terrapin Hill Farm for your picture-perfect Country Wedding.
We do not have a perfectly manicured lawn or a historic mansion for a backdrop. What we do have is a natural, peaceful setting of a beautiful organic farm set amidst the rolling hills of Kentucky’s bluegrass region. We may be the answer for couples with a limited budget who want an outdoor wedding with a relaxed, pastoral atmosphere.
We have all the basic amenities to support a wedding and reception. Our pavilion can hold up to 200 people for a sit-down dinner, and even more for more casual dining. Electricity, water, and a fridge and freezer are all available close by. A band or DJ can set up on the pavilion stage or at one of the other two stages nearby. Guests might enjoy some old-fashioned country games like horseshoes or cornhole, and there’s even a playground for the kids. Hay rides are another fun activity that the guests might enjoy.
While the pavilion is ideal for the reception, there are several potential sites for the ceremony that the couple can choose from. Some like the hilltop with the panoramic view of the countryside, others might prefer the rustic Chapel Stage, nestled in a small field surrounded by trees. Just about any location is accessible by vehicle if necessary, and there is also ample space for parking. The farmhouse has guest rooms which the bridal party may use to dress in, and the kitchen is available for preparing food if needed.
What truly makes our farm a unique wedding venue is that we do not put a time limit on the festivities. Most couples choose our location because they can invite their guests to camp overnight, and we keep the bonfire burning as long as someone is there to enjoy it. There are even hot showers and flush toilets. The guest rooms in the farmhouse can be used overnight as well.
We are easy to work with and will adapt to the needs of each couple. Our prices are very reasonable, and we create a package based on the size of the wedding, the number of guests who stay overnight, if any, and additional amenities desired such as hay rides, bonfires, and the use of stages for musical entertainment. We invite prospective clients to visit the farm any number of times they choose, we allow them to decorate and make other preparations before the wedding day, and we can be flexible on when things need to be cleaned up. The farm is easy to get to and very centrally located between Lexington, Louisville and Frankfort - a plus when family and friends are coming from all directions. And finally, Pete is an ordained minister and can officiate any wedding.
