Covid-19 Statement: We take this pandemic very seriously and are committed to providing a safe experience for all. Since we are an outdoor venue, we are currently offering venue tours and weddings in 2021. We provide soap, hot water, and sanitizer in our restrooms, and have plenty of space to allow for social distancing. If you are thinking about a smaller wedding check out our elopement and micro-wedding options. Please feel free to contact us if you have any concerns.

At Terrapin Hill Farm...

•  Our attention is on YOU.  We'll start with a conversation about your wedding dreams, answer unlimited questions while you plan, and your wedding will be the only event happening on the farm.
•  Be Creative.  Choose any vendors you wish, including photographers, caterers, dj's, musicians, florist, etc., although we can offer suggestions if you need them. Choose your ceremony site, decorations, and the time your wedding starts and ends.
•  Everything you need. Ceremony site, reception site, tables, chairs, linens, lights, decorations, officiant, day-of planner, accommodations, and more!
•  Eco-Friendly. Ceremony and reception in one place avoids travel, farm electricity is solar-generated, we offer re-usable decorations and washable dinnerware, outdoor lighting is provided by the sun or led lights, we can suggest florists and caterers that use locally raised products, and we provide recycling containers.
•  Owners are on site. This is our business and we want everything to be just right, so each couple gets our personalized service. We live on the farm, so we are here when you need us - to answer any questions or make last minute adjustments - we don't rest until the last guest leaves.

Ceremony sites:

The "Chapel Stage"

Picture
This beautiful stage was handmade from cedar trees harvested from the woods nearby. Its rugged and majestic beauty is certainly a unique setting for your ceremony. The open back lets the greenery of the surrounding trees show through for a beautiful kind of decor only nature can provide. It is also just a short walk from the pavilion and parking area. The stage area has electricity and is plenty large enough for a full band to set up if you choose to have your entertainment happen here later in the evening, and there's also a spot for a bonfire nearby. If you want "unique" and a ceremony everyone will remember, this is the spot for you. We provide handmade wooden benches, or choose straw bales for a rustic touch.

The "Top of the Knob"

The turtle shell-shaped hill behind the farmhouse (which gives the farm it's name) has an amazing view of the countryside in every direction. Just a short walk up from the pavilion, it's also accessible by vehicle if necessary. You'll feel like you're on top of the world when you say your I-do's here!

Other Ceremony Locations

Picture
It's your choice where you have your ceremony, and there are so many locations to choose from... in the woods or a field, near a pond or a playground... our venue has so many beautiful sites, the hard part is choosing just one.

Reception site:

The Pavilion

Picture
The 40'x60' pavilion can hold up to 200 people for a sit-down dinner; for smaller groups there is plenty of room for dancing too. It's rustic like a barn but more open and airy. Inside the pavilion the twinkly lights, indirect spotlights, and chandelier provide the ambiance, and you can add any decorations you'd like. We'll pull the curtains closed if the weather doesn't cooperate, but clear panels in the curtains still let in plenty of natural light. Your band or DJ can set up on a stage that can be adjusted for the size you need. Accessible restrooms and plenty of space for parking are close by. Kids of all ages enjoy the nearby playground and there's a bonfire pit just below the pavilion for after-dark fun.

Indoor areas:

The Farmhouse

The 100 year old farmhouse, located near the entrance to the property, is used only for events at Terrapin Hill Farm. It has recently been renovated and refurnished, and features a large modern kitchen, one and a half baths, and your wedding party can get dressed in the upstairs bedrooms. The house is equipped with central heat and air conditioning and is a comfortable place to relax before or after the festivities. The deck and backyard is also a great place to have your rehearsal dinner!

The Cottages

Picture
With our overnight packages, guests can camp in tents or RVs, or stay in our rustic cottages for a "glamping" experience, and we keep the bonfire burning as long as someone is there to enjoy it. Each of the 5 cottages have two twin beds or one full and one twin, all but one has bunkbeds (they sleep a total of 13 people). They are clean and spacious, have electricity, and are located close to the restrooms and showers. There's also a bonfire spot, perfect for pre-wedding or late-night fun.

We have ten RV sites with hookups for 30amp electric and water, two sites with just 30amp electric hookups, and two sites with 50amp electric and water close to the pavilion. Tent camping is allowed anywhere. For a "Glamping" experience, check out our friends at THE POP-UP BNB - as a preferred vendor you get special deals!

Farm Owners/Event Coordinators

PictureOur family, at our son's wedding (July 2018)
Hi! We're Pete and Brenda (on the left in the photo). We've owned Terrapin Hill Farm since 1985 and have been doing weddings since 2005, so we have many years of experience.

We are easy to work with and will adapt to the needs of each couple. The weddings we host are never cookie cutter events- each one is tailored to the tastes and desires of the couple we are working with. Just imagine your perfect wedding day and we'll do our best to help make it happen!

Read more about us and what we do here!

We pride ourselves on being flexible and easy to work with.
Here are comments from some of our past clients - read the entire reviews here.

"Brenda and Pete... are incredibly wonderful and helpful people to work with..."
"Brenda and Pete were great to work with. We had to plan this wedding from another state, and their help was fantastic."
"Brenda was more than helpful in answering endless questions I had during the planning process..."
"I can't say enough good things about Brenda and Pete and the farm. Brenda was so easygoing, while still staying on top of              everything..."
"Getting married is such a special time in a person's life and Brenda and Pete know exactly how to make that time the best it          could possibly be."
"Brenda was in close communication with us, able to answer our questions, and provide advice/contacts if desired. During our       wedding weekend Brenda and Pete were available to help with anything! We paid extra to have Brenda as day-of                         coordinator which was well worth it. Both were available to help out and take care of matters but not invasive or                         overwhelming by any means."
"Brenda and Pete went above and beyond to make our wedding day incredible. They were so accommodating and flexible to           work with."

The best way to decide if Terrapin Hill Farm is the venue for you is to schedule a visit and meet us in person. If you need to come back to show family members or friends that's fine too, and often couples will schedule a second look when they're ready plan their decor. The farm is easy to get to and very centrally located between Lexington, Louisville and Frankfort (be sure to check out our overnight packages if guests are traveling from afar).
